INSTANT SCAPES – Scenari Instantanei

Instant Scapes (2021–ongoing) is an open-form audiovisual project that can be read as a form of everyday anthropology. Through a succession of self-contained 30-second videos, it observes daily life, social rituals and the environments we inhabit, transforming fleeting moments into a continuous perceptual landscape.

Each fragment is conceived as an autonomous visual composition—or tableau vivant—while also functioning as part of a larger evolving work. The fixed duration of thirty seconds establishes a constant temporal pulse, inviting viewers to experience attention itself as a compositional element. As new fragments are added, the project expands into different autonomous versions while preserving the same underlying structure.

Conceived as a study of possible music for possible situations, Instant Scapes moves freely between electronic sound, acoustic recordings and instrumental miniatures, crossing musical genres and artistic disciplines. In some sections, the visual rhythm itself functions as a score, naturally generating musical development through mickey-mousing techniques; in others, sound assumes a descriptive, metaphorical or contrasting role, creating irony, distance or abstraction.

Originally launched on 3 January 2022 through regular online publications, the project has progressively evolved beyond its initial format into a continuously expanding body of work available in multiple versions of different durations, each complete in itself while remaining part of an open-form composition.
